Death of Thomas SCRIMGEOUR
« on: Tuesday 04 March 08 18:23 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to find the death of Thomas SCRIMGEOUR.   He was born 1896 in Scotland and emigrated 1929 aboard SS Regina from Liverpool to Montreal.

He left behind a wife and daughter - his wife refused to go with him.   In 1930 he sent home a photograph of himself taken at C.N.R. Cricket Grounds, Lachine, Montreal.   Even when he sent home the fares his wife refused to go.

Would love to know what happended to him - one family rumour was that he re-married.

Any help at all much appreciated

Thanks

Wilma

-in 1930/1 directory I didn't spot him in the main Montreal directory or in Lachine but you could check the other sections. Nor in 1931/2 directory. There are a John and James Scrimgeour listed in Montreal in these years, in case these names mean something to you.

I jumped forward to 1940 - James, John, and a W. Scrimgeour listed.
1950 - Rev Chas E, James, J, K. M. and W. Scrimgeour listed.

So either his name has been left out, he was living elsewhere (perhaps outside city limits), or...?

Thanks for looking.   I think those Scrimgeour chaps mentioned are from an unrelated family.   Can only think he didn't hang around the area and this is why we cannot find him.

Thanks again

I knew I'd seen that name recently. There was a Scrimgeour in the Montreal obits the other day...there's a title in the Common Room where I posted it just in case anybody was looking for Scrimgeours in Quebec...doesn't look like yours but you never know.

Cheers,

Seven listed with that surname...Not your Thomas, but perhaps some of these were already living there when he came over, thus the appeal. also several SCRIMGER listed...
