Ancestry Electoral Rolls

Apologies if this has been mentioned before - if you can't find someone on the rolls - don't assume they are dead! There seem to be either names (alphabetically) or districts missing from some of the rolls. If you can't find someone, go into the state year & details and see what is present

e.g. I found someone in 1925 Brisbane but not 1930. Went into the details for Queensland 1930 and there are only 5 districts (10 in 1925) and no sign of Brisbane.

1903 a relative living in Ipswich is not on the roll. Go to Qld, 1903, Moreton, Ipswich - it contains names starting with W Y Z only.

There are also Federal & State rolls mixed in - so I think this is why some folks are in the index twice (and sometimes in two different places - it wasn't until about 1980 in Qld that the roles were updated simultaneously - used to have to fill in 2 forms  ::)  ::)  )

Trish

Edit: and just to mention  - found a relative on the electoral roll on the property in North Qld - she worked herself to death - grew the food, looked after the animals, fed the shearers etc etc - on the electoral roll "home duties" - it was a BIG home with alot of duties!
