Llandrindod Wells photo. Help!
« on: Tuesday 11 March 08 00:15 GMT (UK) »
I have just joined this site and hope that somebody out there may be able to help me with this photo.
It is of my great grandfather Aaron Atherton, and my great uncle, Alfred Atherton (his brother), outside the Cabinet Makers Workshop in Llandrindod Wells.  We think this was taken about 1914-16.  Certainly before the 1st World War.
Alfred was the owner of this buisness located behind the Ridgebourne.  Alfred died in 1923.  My great grandfather Aaron, then had his own buisness called Osbourne House Workshop, Temple Street.  However, that is all we know.
Perhaps somebody could throw some more light on this for us.  Or maybe they recognise the workmaen in the photo.  Perhaps somebody still owns a piece of my great grandfather's furniture.  Any small amount of information would be great.
Many thanks
Kim

Suggest you write to the local paper - the Mid Wales Journal at Marina Gallery, Middleton Street, Llandrindod Wells, Powys and ask them to put the picture in the paper.

Many, many thanks for the suggestion and address.  I wasn't really sure where to go next with it.  I will do just that.

Regards
Kim

Failing that there is a Records Office in Llandrindod Wells, though I don't know the exact address, next to the Council buildings. The other option in that part of the world, is to contact any antiquarian bookshops in the town, as they may be well versed in identifying photos from both the local and tourist demand.

Many thanks for that message.  However, since writing my initial request, I have managed to track down some local information and this is still on-going.
