Hi Merlin,
There is some controversy over the birth date of Herbert Lindsay. Among the Chat messages someone said:
"Their eldest son was Herbert Lindsey (1847-1967), with Eric number 2 in the line. "

In another message someone else said:
"you are quite right, 1877, not 1857 for Herbert Lindsay's birth."

Any ideas?

Hi flethcherhist,

It would be impossible for Herbert Lindsay to be born in 1857, his father Herbert Howard would have only been 6 years old & wasn't married until 1876!...lol

So, whoever said 1857 obviously made a HUGE mistake...

If you look at my post #55 you will have your answers, these are the from the official government records I own a copy of the indexes & copies of the certificates are available on microfilm also.

Anything else you need just holla!

Hi Merlin

If you are up for more questions, I was wondering if you were able to confirm the children of William Watchorn Perkins. I believe that one of them might be called Augusta Clementina Frances Perkins and marries a Joseph Francis Boultbee in about 1901. Think there is also a Charles Morice (1886), Colin Henry (1887), Kenneth Winter (1889), David Warrender (1893), and Lawrence Winter (1893). Think that there may be 2 other daughters.

Also can you trace a Susannah Eliza Perkins (b 1797 London, d 1855 - Hobart) as wife of William Watchorn (1797 London - d 1854 Hobart). As was probably usual, there seems to be a lot of inter family marriage. I'm trying to see if I can link in John Perkins (1812-1877) as a family member to Susannah Eliza Perkins. Maybe a brother or nephew. Just guessing but it's all very tantalising with the same surnames popping up on both sides of the tree.

Please don't feel under presure - only if you have the time and fancy the challenge,

Regards

Hi Perks1,

I'll see what I can find for you... I think I will have to jump back & forth between TAS, VIC (AUS) & NZ for William Watchorn & his family.

Hi Merlin,
If you ever have any spare time could you find out when Herbert Howard returned to England as the Wokingham directories don't list him until 1887.

Thanks a lot,

Jim

Hi fletherhist,

There are very few passenger departure lists, the reason being is back then they didn't care who was leaving only entering the country, usually the country they were arriving in kept copies of their arrivals.

I will look at what departure lists are available for you anyway, but I would suggest checking the UK end also!

However, seeing that Eric Howard was born 23/05/1879 in TAS & Cecil Henry was born 1881 in the UK it would seem there is only a small time frame  of mid 1879 to 1881.
