They didn't appear to have a son Burt - not listed with them anyway.
Currently checking 1900.

Alexander said on his army papers he was born England .... and all the flowery obits say his father was a soldier who guarded Napoleon on St Helena !!  :) :) .... so who knows !!  ;D

Burt could also be the one Kathy found ! but like I said who knows !!

but he was definitely a musician !! ( and army !! ) .... he founded the Denver Municipal Band !!  ;D

Alex. Sutherland Widr.    92 (??)   b. May 1808    Musician    b. England (??) as were parents
Anna J.    dau.     22 (??)    b. March 1878    Teacher (school)
Francis E.   dau.  16           b. March 1884     Undertaker
(wonder if Francis, dau. should be son - undertaker seems unusual occupation for a girl and christian name spelt the male way).

States Alexander went to US in 1845 - naturalised - and confusingly he and parents all shown born England.
