Depends on the era. Post 1837 it should give everything that a 'modern' certificate has.

What period were you most interested in?

Hi

It does very slightly but yes, you should expect the parents names.

Also if by Banns or licence and the relevant dates.

Sometimes you also get names of witnessess, but I have found records where these have not been included.

Pauline posted whilst I was typing - I assumed you ment pre 1837

The date I am interested in is 1833, I contacted the LDS in Kensington West London before Christmas to order the records for N.Yorks and the guy who answered the phone said they had them there so there was no need to order. When I went to look they were just a list of Brides and Grooms and only from the Parish Church. I don't know where to try next.

Sadnil,

That sounds very much like some form of index transcription and not the actual Parish Records.

Two suggestions, firstly you can try posting on the relevant county board and see if anyone has a copy or access to the PR's you need or secondly you could check out the FreeReg site and contact the coordinator for the area your interested in and offer to transcribe them.

Its a good way to get access to PR's if no one can help and you can have them for months and months.

p.s. Just noticed this is my 300th post......wooohooo   :)
