Did your grandad give you these names as being his parents? You could always send off for his birth certificate to confirm parents, address, occupation, etc....

Well, if you have the birth certificate stating parents names and his marriage cert with fathers name, it seems to be a pretty good bet that the 1901 census you have is correct, there doesn't seem to be any other James Henry Olivers with wife Mary E. Let us know if you need any help tracing further back

Good Luck

Thanks Cat
Do you think something could have happened to Caroline and Rosa before my grandad was born and thats why there was no mention of them.
Thankyou Lou

So your grandad didn't know anything about the 2 girls? Did he know of any siblings or think he was an only child? Possibly, as he was given to friends/family when only a baby, they too were given away to other relatives? Did he know his real parents at all? Could they have emigrated? Did they die and the children were "shared out" amongst the family maybe to avoid the workhouse.... You could try looking for marriages/deaths in the indexes quarter by quarter, a long job, but the only way you might find out any more unless you run into another researcher (Is your tree on GenesReunited? You may get lucky and come across descendants of the girls who will be able to tell you what happened)

Good Luck

Have you checked and entered your surname interests in the surname interests table?  There would seem to be some possibilties in there.

The link is by clicking on "your surname interests" found at the bottom of every page.  You can then contact anyone searching the same name via their profile by clicking on their rootschat name in the table.
