Williams
« on: Wednesday 26 March 08 12:33 GMT (UK) »
I am researching my family tree on my Fathers side. On his maternal line I have a Robert Evans (my great grandfather) who married an Ann Williams in Janaury 1892. From the marriage certificate I can see that they were both born in around 1852. The witnesses at the wedding were an Ellis Thomas and a Margaret Williams.

At the time of the 1891 census they were residing at Gorllyn, Dolbenmaen. Ann is listed as being a housekeeper to Robert. I know that Robert Evans was born in llanfihangel but I do not know where Ann Williams was born.

I am trying to find out more about the Williams connection. The marriage certificate states that Ann's father was called Griffith Williams. I would be very interested in learning more about the Williams family if anyone can help me. :)

On 1891 census Ann gives p.o.b. as Abererch

you can look up 1881 on family search -there is Ann Williams dressmaker age 29 unmarried b Abererch

1871
Pontanfawr
Abererch
Caernarvon
Thomas Williams head M 49 lab Edern
Sarah wife 47 Llanrwst
ANN THOMAS daughter 18 Dressmaker Abererch
William Williams son 15 Abererch
William Edwards nephew Pwllheli
RG10 5703 23 20
on ancestry Ann Thomas is "tagged" as "other possible name Ann Williams"

so was Anns father really Griffith Thomas  and sh emixed together natural father's name and stepfathers name?

or is this family nothing to do with them??

then I found
1861
Tan y frel
Llandseiniolen
Caernarvon
Griffith Williams head  45 slate quarryman Llandwwg
Ellen wife 46 Llandemielfwd
Evan son 18 Llandwwg
William son 17 slate quarryman llandwwg
Hugh son 14 slate quarryman Llandwwg
ANN daughter 9 Llanwwg
RG9 4340 18

sorry about spelling - jst posted as it looked to me -no doubt someone will correct p.o.b.s
