William Eagle. Norfolk Light Dragoons
« on: Friday 28 March 08 21:13 GMT (UK) »
William Eagle, NCO in Capt Varlo's company, Norfolk Light Dragoons, was married in Leith, Scotland, in June 1798.

Elsewhere he is described as a watchmaker from Norfolk.

Does any of this ring any bells with anyone? I'd be grateful for any leads or suggestions about where in Norfolk he may have originated, or anything about Captain Varlo. What were his dragoons doing away up in Scotland in 1798? Very puzzling!
Ballingall, Donaldson, Fulton, Gillespie, Ramsay, Walker - in Fife.
Bury - in Salford & Liverpool.
Jack - in Glasgow, Dunfermline & Dundee.
Bermingham/Birmingham - in Cork.
Eagle - in Norfolk, Edinburgh & Glasgow.
