Samuel Leat was my partner's 2nd great grandpa - he drowned in late 1851.
Have you found any trace of Charlotte (Rossiter) after the 1851 census?  There's a possible remarriage for her Newport M 3q1858.

I have found no info on samuel Leat  - he might have gone to live in Wales or joined the forces  and killed and I have nothing in the Rossiters - so sorry   :(
Leat - Gosling & Woodman are the main Surnames.

Hi Dave

The Welsh connection is interesting as I found a marriage record on FreeBMD for Samuel Moses Leat in the March quarter of 1858 at Monmouth.Unfortunately, I'm not sure who he married.

Samuel Moses is the eldest son of Samuel Leat & Charlotte Rossiter.  I have him & his descendency - it was Charlotte I'd not found after 1851.  If you'd like any Leat info, contact me on wytangel@hotmail.com
