Phillimore Marriages - LEGGETT
« on: Sunday 30 March 08 09:59 BST (UK) »
Hi Carolyn,

Could you please try and find any LEGGETT marriages, particularly in the 1700 and 1800's.

I am looking to confirm a marriage of John Leggett and Honor (Scratton ??) about 1817 in Holton by Halesworth, Suffolk. They are on the 1841 census living in Beccles listed as Leggott.( took me a while to find that!!)They are my ggg/grandparents maternal side.

Any Leggett marriages you find would be greatfully appreciated.

Trish

Thanks Suffolk Sue !!,

Can I apply for that certificate?

 I have no idea how to get the family line back further from there- other than a trip to England when I retire!

Trish

( better go to bed, now midnight in Sydney and work tomorrow)

The only thing you can get is a print out from the parish register as its way before 1837 when civil reg began, and from when you can get certs.

Hi Trish

I had a look but my records don`t cover that area of Suffolk unfortunately.

 According to the LDS their  children, Joseph born 1826  Halesworth, Elizabeth 1820 Halesworth and Abigail born 1829 Beccles seem to fit with your census.

Regards

Hi Trish,
I've just signed up to Rootschat after stumbling across your post on Peter Ivers.
My wife's family is from NZ (Pratts). Theophilus Pratt married Catherine Cummins 1823-1915.
Catherine's parents Patrick and Ann Ivers are as far back as I've got.

Cheers, Mark Price and Cindy(Cooper) Mothers name Pratt.
We now live in Brisbane.

Hi Mark,

How wonderful to hear from you. I am a Cummins by birth and visited the graves of the Pratts/Cummins families when I was last in NZ.
(I have been in Sydney for quite some time)

I presume you have their Marriage;
Theophilus Pratt/Catherine Cummins
5 July 1847 • West (Bank) Ballybar, Carlow, Iteland
Source Carlow Parish Records, County Carlow Site

I have Theos Parents as William Pratt and Ann Sale.

I do have some info on the Ivers but not Ann Ivers Parents.
So far I have been unable to find what happened to Peter Ivers after he arrived in Austrlaia.
I visit to the State Library has been on my "bucket list" for some time to see if I can find anything on him.

I do know he had Jemmy Ivers who wrote to him in Dublin Castle before he was Transported.
Father likely?

I wont take up space on here but if you just add 2 more comments on this posting the PM system is activated and I can PM you my personal email address.

Trish :)

EDIT in case you havent found this it is a very interesting site;
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~cummins/index.htm

Go to records and then Tinryland (where the Cummins Family was based)

Eg;
1825 July 17, Bd Cath, Pat Cummins & Anne Ivers
SS Richd Ivers & Margt Timmons, Tinryland

So a Richard Ivers was a sponsor at Catherines Baptism, Brother/Father of Ann?
