Many thanks- could certainly be a variation of Aghadowey (based on pronunciation) but don't recognise the name but suppose Gillen is her married name.

Thanks Elaine.
Yes.  Thats what I thought at first, but i zoomed in on the original image an got a second opinion.  Still could be Cullen, but up close looks more like Gillen.  Also compared with another C and G on the page.  Both are close, though.
All the best.

Thanks Elaine - does look like Cullen. Will file it away in the 'Herd Book' where I keep misc. bits of family trees just in case it ever links to anything later.

DonnyB:
Thank you very much for your input.
I will keep that in mind in my research.
Although, to be honest, I don't exactly know where to go from here - I have never had to try to obtain info from Ireland.
Thanks again.

Hello McCann, well Dunkineely was a guess rather than something definite, and I wouldnt want to send you off on any false leads or anything.  However, the parish for Dunkineely is Killaghtee and according to www.failteromhat.com there were Given's living in the Parish including a Robert Given in Gilbertstown.  There were also Deane's in the parish including a couple in Gilbertstown.  Have you ever heard Donegal mentioned or Killybegs?  You won't get a census record or civil birth record for the time as previously mentioned.  Possible you might get a baptism though but I wouldnt want to give you false hope.

As I said I was guessing at Dunkineely, does anyone think its a possibility?

Don't worry, I won't blame you for a mis-lead.  I sincerely appreciate your guess.  Any information, fact or suggestion, is helpful and always appreciated.
Thank you for checking that site.  Right now it says unavailable, but when it is back up I will check for the name McKegg, which is Eliza's illegitimate daughter's last name on an early Scottish census (believed to be father's name - from Ireland).  If there are also McKeggs, that could be a more solid start for further inquiry.  Do you agree?
I haven't heard of any Irish city or town named, except for the information I obtained from that census.
Thank you again, DonnyB.  I really do aprecaite all the help.
