The only 21st Hussars officer on the medal roll is Lieutenant W.G.C. Wyndham who was entitled to the medal with clasp 1879. Is this the man you're looking for?

Mmmm.

The surname is ringing family history bells.
I was following up on an old family story.
Any ideas how i can get more info on this mans army / life details.

Iain - Your best bet is to get a researcher who visits the National  Archives in Kew to do some digging into Army Lists, etc. to pull together as much information as possible. It's pretty unlikely you'll find anything online.

Hi

According to the 1884 Army List, Captain Walter George Crole Wyndham of the 21st Hussars (then at the Staff College), served with the King’s Dragoon Guards in the Zulu War of 1879 (as a Lieutenant), and subsequently with Baker Russell’s Flying Column (medal with clasp).

Maybe the London Gazette can throw some light on him. He became a Lieutentant, effective 11 Feb 1875; and Captain, 19 May 1880.
