My Welsh ancestors were MITCHELLS & ROBERTS. My great
grandmother, Margaret Anne MITCHELL - chr. Beaumaris,
24 Ap. 1843, her
f. = James MITCHELL / sometimes MICHAEL
m. = Margaret [ROBERTS], possibly this couple were
married at Amlwch, Anglesey on 12 Aug. 1828.
James may be a [younger?] bro. of
John MITCHELL, who marr. Jane or Jean CAMERON,
at Inveravon, Banff, Scot. on 15 Feb. 1821, and produced
Peter MITCHELL, chr. Inveravon, 19 Jan. 1832.
Peter in turn marr. Margaret LEDINGHAM, dau. of Alexander
Ledingham, and Christina [RANNIE], at Inveravon, on
27 Nov. 1856. This couple produced a daughter,
Jane MITCHELL, at Inveravon, 14 Oct. 1862.
Peter and daughter Jenny or Jane MITCHELL show up
in the household of my gt'grandparents,
Margaret Anne [MITCHELL] and William PHILLIPS,
in Madison Township, Lake County, Ohio on 6/7/1870
with Peter now 40 (no occupation shown), while his
daughter, Jenny (?), then 8 was at school there.
Presumably, Margaret [LEDINGHAM] was deceased -
but did she die in Scotland, Wales, or Ohio, etc.?
In December 1870, my maternal grandmother,
Grace Marguerite Z. PHILLPS was born in Ohio, and
later travelled to Beaumaris, Anglesey, Wales with
her parents, where they appear on the 1881 CENSUS.
I hope to identify more activities of Wm. PHILLIPS,
and wife, Margaret Anne [MITCHELL], and of Wm's
1st wife, name not known. Thus I seek information
on length of residence in Ohio, and if this was all at
the above farm? or might also include some details
of 1st wife's name, plus the names of their 2 sons.
