Here is that Ann in 1901 ! Can anyone find the birth of M Angus Ellis her granchild born 1870 March 11
http://www.automatedgenealogy.com/census/ViewFrame.jsp?id=17069&highlight=46
(above her is an A. Margaret Ellis born 1825 Ireland, a widow, occ.Tailor)
ann says immigrated 1835...! This is looking promising!

( as you know the Irish "Kelly" was sometimes shortened  to "Kell" )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
O.K. Now I can see why this family makes you crazy as I think this may be same Ann  in 1881
Morris, Huron North, Ontario -  1375910   F#C-13274
 John Ellis age 36 born Ireland
    James  10 Ontario
 Ann Ellis married ( no husband listed ) age 70 born Ireland
 William Brown married age 65 born Ireland Farm. Lab.
Could Benjamin have outlived his wife? This is a Benjamin Bowman transcribed as Dowman.
That's a great find, Janice, but Sophia is alive and well in 1911, just can't find her in 1901...
Sophia's death info was back here...
Look at that poor Benjamin Janice found...Five Capital Bs in a row and still couldn't get it right...Surely is a "B" though, isn't it...
Hi Karen,
Just wondering a couple of things: 1st, could she simply decided not to be part of the 1901 census? I know some people do that.
And, did she come to Canada with a family member or friend and/or was she "sponsored" by one?
Also wondering if there would be civic  (tax, property, etc) and/or church records (membership, etc) in Ingersol that would place her (and possibly husband) there in 1901?
I looked for info too Karen but came up dry - nothing that hasn't already been memtioned by the others. Anyway, perhaps an RCer in the Ingersol area can scrounge around town hall and the local churches for you :-)
Good Morning everyone!!
Janice thanks for that information, I have emailed a lady on the Ontario Cemetery Resources to see if she can find Benjamin buried in Fenelon Falls.
JJ, that Wm and Ann Ellis looks promising I think?  I wish I could find her on the 1851 or even a marriage for them.
Fenelon Falls isn't that big a town, and it's only about an hour and half from me, I'm thinking road trip  ;D
JDC you could be right, would be my luck that they weren't on it.
Hmm, I've got an 8 year old who couldn't decide what shoes to wear to school today and has now missed the bus, so now I've got to drive her  ::)
Karen
Yikes, a shoe fanatic at eight?... ;D  You are in for it, aren't you?
I know you know this but posting  for the ages as she isn't on the 1881, and this couple also awol on 1901... Married Feb. 10 1880
Archibald WILSON age 27 - physician, Manvers, Fenelon Falls
parents Archibald WILSON and Susanna SUTTON
Mary Eliza BOWMAN age 24 - Hope, Fenelon Falls
Benjamin BOWMAN & Sophia ELLIS
Witnesses are sister Jane & husband John Maynard...who are on the 1901
Do you have the particulars for the other son William?
This is the only feasible one on the 1901 for him as children born post 1881
