Well done Erin! This'll be the death registration then:

Q4 1919

WILLIAMS Thomas L C  62  Leeds 9b  376

Purlin - I'm not so sure about the insurance scam. What would be the point of putting all that ID on the body if it was so well hidden that it wouldn't be found for 60 years?

There is nothing in the contemporary press about the disappearance as far as I can see - if there was a big insurance policy one would expect to see some speculation about the circumstances.

this is true shaun, but i think who ever the person was, they were intended to be found.  its unfortunate or fortunate whichever way one looks at it, that circumstances dictated otherwise. but then its the unusual circumstances that makes it all so interesting isn't it.

Presumably Elizabeth would not have been able to remarry until TCW was declared legally dead. So where is she in 1891?

Yes I wondered about that one Annie but the age (53) is way off - the one we seek  should only be 47. In the 1881 Liverpool census there are 3 x Elizabeth Williams from IOM and I think that is one of the others.

I just realised that the Fanny Wood who is visiting in 1881 is Elizabeth's sister!
