Interesting about buying houses with a gruesome past!

A quite ordinary but pleasant modern family house is on a list of properties going to auction advertised in the local paper.  I wondered why, as usually properties in auctions have some legal or structural problem making them less likely to sell.  Then I realised that it is the site of a recent unpleasant murder (within the past two years).   Locally folk would know this, so I suppose auction was felt to be the best way to sell.

ha ha, yes, it would be very much a question of checking under the bed every night i think.

i hadn't seen those two sites annie, thank you.  i note that the radio programme was on city not merseyside according to that report.  i think roger phillips on merseyside also did a special report on the case.  its certainly a favourite topic in the city

i have to say that until reading the book re. the julia wallace mystery, i had never heard or seen written the name qualtrough,  had you?  i wasnt aware of its manx connections either until recently, i have you to thank for that.

pjbuk007,  i wonder if one is supposed to disclose in the 'hips' documentation any gruesome history attached to a property.  i suppose you should as it obviously affects the value.  it would certainly make for interesting reading!  but then, i am sure that for some, living in a property surrounded by such terrible vibes and memories would be a bonus!!

Yes, I am assuming you do not need HIPS for an auction.

according to this article,  surprisingly, you do need hips for an auction,

we cant escape them can we!
