Any other information at all?

Thank you very much for that very quick reply I am sorry I dont have his fathers name I will have to get birth cert, all I know about him was that he served in India before or during war and his wife died out there abt 1910 and he remarried out there in a place called Multan, on his way home from India abt 1914 he died aboard ship and was buried at sea

I think it would be a good idea to purchase a certificate - I can only find a Walter of abt correct age with widowed mother mary and several siblings in 1881 - but that isn't definately him

 - it looks like the 'C' is for Christmas?

I can't find any remarriage/death for him. Do you know the names of any children he had while he was in the army, because there are a number of Prossers on the Regimental birth indices.

I see that an Ivy Grace Prosser was registered in Hollingbourne in 1904 and she is also on the birth indexes as b. Stockbury, father in the 20th.

ETA: If he was in the 20th, other possible children are listed as Beatrice M, Portsmouth, 1902, Eva F, Bury, 1903, Bridget M, Chakrata, 1908.  GRO army birth indexes have Bridget M, Chakrata, 1908, Marion, Multan, 1910 (Marion not on Regimental index?)

I found him on 1881 census, I think - he's indexed as "Walter A. C. Prossen'.  Father Albert, mother Marion, children Emily, George, Edwin, Walter, and Albert, mother in law Jemima Bradley.

Children are probably (from freebmd)
Emily Jane Bussell Prosser, b. Uxbridge 1864
Frederick Albert Christmas Prosser, b. Uxbridge 1865, died same year
George A. F., b. Uxbridge 1866
Edwin Henry, b. Uxbridge 1868 (on 1871 census as definitely Edwin H)
your Walter
Albert Edward, b. St. Saviour 1880.

furthermore, Albert Prossen may have married Marian Hubbert in 1863.

Thank you so much jorose :) that is them  the (Marion or Miriam)she was known as Multy, called after the place she was born ,was my husbands mother, but as she died young no information was left regarding her Fathers Family The two last girls were from the second marriage he had to Jane? she was Irish.  What regiment  does ETA stand for not very well up on military, also where would I get Birth cert for Marion or marriage cert for second marriage to Jane? which must have taken place about 1907-8. Much appreciated information

ETA = 'edited to add'. The regiment was the 20th Foot.

You can order Marion's birth ceritifcate from the GRO:
http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/order_certificates/Search_for_overseas_records/index.asp

You can see the overseas indexes at www.familyrelatives.com

So the remarriage was between the birth of Eva F. in Bury in 1903 and the birth of Bridget M in Chakrata in 1908?  I still can't spot it (or Grace's death). It is possible both events took in Ireland and didn't make it to the Army listings.
