« on: Tuesday 29 April 08 12:32 BST (UK) »

Welcome to this weeks Scavenger Hunt and it looks very interesting.   I think you'll all have fun with this one, so go to it guys, give it your best.

Good Luck and Good Hunting

                               **********************

Hi everyone

I have had a hard time trying to decide which side of my family to hunt for!  I have changed my mind at least four times now LOL

What I have decided to do, is to take you along with me following a new line of my family. I have no idea where this is going to lead as I only received information very recently. So as the story unfolds, I will also be seeing it for the first time as well !
~~~~~~~~------
I received the marriage cert of my great grandparents the other day.
William Skinner Middleton , 30 , accountant , residing : Red Cow village, St Davids, Exeter, father; James Middleton Licensed victualler (he was the Proprieter of the Elmfield Hotel which is now the Jolly Porter)
married 6 feb 1912
Annie Isabel Morris, 26, residing : same as above, Father; George Morris , Gardener
~~~~~~~~---------

Now I have followed William Skinner Middleton and his family back to Moses Middleton christened 4 Feb 1711, Cadeleigh, Devon.

What I am now doing is tracing Annie Isabel Morris.  When I first started looking for her , I had no idea where she was born . The problem was that my Grandfather was born 4 years before they married and was registered in Reading, Berkshire by his mother Annie Isobel MIDDLETON. (I have his birth cert stating that his dad was William Skinner Middleton).

I posted a thread , Devon Boards, as I could not find an Annie I Morris with a dad George, a Gardener.
Here is the Link:
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,300372.0.html

Eventually I found a birth ;
Mary Annie I Morris mar q 1887, Truro, Cornwall
Not knowing if she was my'Annie", I followed up and found her.

to summarise:
1891;
St Clements, 1 Mitchell Hill Cottage, Cornwall
Elizabeth MORRIS head mar 39 b Gwennap, Cornwall
Arthur son 15 Gardener b Truro
Janie dau 13 b Trur
Archibald son 11 b truro
Maud M dau 9 b Truro
Katie dau 7 b Truro
ANNIE dau 4 b Truro
John H son 2 b Truro

1881
St Clements
5 Cooks Row
GEORGE MORRIS head mar 28 Under Gardener b Crantock, Cornwall
Elizabeth A wife  29 b Gwennap
Ernest A son 5
Eliza J 3
Archibald G 1

They are still at Mitchell Hill in 1901 under the name Morrish, can't find George in 1881 yet!
George in union workhouse in 1861
George with siblings in 1871

then found this possible marriage
George Morris = Elizabeth Ann Martin
Mar 1876 Truro

following this , started a new thread for George in Cornwall;
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,300575.0.html

Nicholas Morrish s/o Robert Morrish and Katherine , bapt 26 june 1706
Robert Morrish = Katherine Trenerrie 3 Sept 1699

There are a lot of names I never knew I had . Hopefully we can fill in the gaps and possibly go further back !. Also, if we could follow Annie's mother ... Elizabeth Ann Martin. I think I have found her with parents John and Jane.

Thank you all for helping me .... enjoy the ride !
