It looks like William Burt remarried Helen (COWIE). James's 1865 marriage cert. will help you verify parents for him given that this is information that he will have given rather than that reported at his death. I would if I was you also look at this birth cert for William Burt and Helen Cowie:

It's an 1855 birth cert, the first year of official registration in Scotland. For one year only, the entries ran over two pages of the register and included a wealth of additional info. For birth certs it will include the date and place of parents' marriage, how many children they had (male/female) and alive/deceased, where the parents were born and how long they had lived at usual residence. Worth a look for a more definitive guide on William Burt.
