Lancashire RO have confirmed 'Blackpool orphanage' is the one i want but have no records.  They say it was a private orphanage and the local services would not have any records.

Does anyone have any idea where i could find further info, nothing comes up on google!!

Dear Sara

Perhaps you could try the National Children's Homes site - www.nch.org.uk . They might be able to tell you who ran it or if any records survived.

best of luck

Hi,

Don't know if anyone can help but I am also looking for orphanage's in the Blackpool area about 1933/34, the only information I can find is that they had to pay 25 shillings a month for the children, so would this be a private orphanage?  Does anyone know what the Kirkham Institute was?  Was it a type of workhouse?
