I'm following this thread again with a great deal of interest because of my connection to the Sives family.  My 3xg grandmother was a Sives b1798 and I think I have the line going back to mid 17th C.

I'm actually going through to East Lothian next week for a couple of days, and top of my to do list is visit cemeteries and churchyards in and around Dirleton, Athelstaneford, East Fortune, Prestonkirk etc.

The map below is a very rough draft of the places I intend to try and visit over the 2 days.  I need to plan it slightly better before next week - have only just this morning made arrangements to go.

Dave

PS - I'd still really like to find some other living descendant(s) of the Sives family that have taken a DNA test.  I suspect any Sives DNA I have inherited will be minimal, but it might be enough to get a small match with someone and help me map which parts of the DNA segments are shared.

Norberto, I have been able to find the Sives on the Argentinian 1895 National Census. Archibald indexed as Archivaldo SIBES.

See the family's entry here on Family Search (you now need to be signed in to view) https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MW7J-V8G

You will see that on this, Archibald is showing as born c. 1841...taking us closer to the Dundee Archibald potentially?

I have also found Helen Robertson and son Archibald Sives on the 1871 census in Dundee. It is a poor transcription which is why they haven't been easy to find to date!

Elen Sever 30 b. Cupar W??, Forfarshire
Achabala Siver 4 son b. Dundee

Address: No 45 Wynd Ross Buck Lank, Dundee

I can't tell from the transcript I am looking at what Helen's marital status is showing as, ie married or widowed. This detail will be on the original image on Scotlands People.

Hi Monica,

Been checking Valuation records around that time, came up with the following,

SIVES, THOMAS
Tenant Occupier
DWELLING HOUSE NO 45 SMALLS WYND
DUNDEE
1875
VR009800036

I know address is slightly different, but the "Sives" name is interesting.

Tom
Scotland - Buchanan, Thomson, Pat(t)erson, Stewart, Ritchie, Tracey
Ireland - Tracey, Conroy, Pat(t)erson.

Hi Tom

Archibald b. 1840 (actually end of 1839 https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XB87-34F) had a brother called Thomas born c. 1850 who lived and married in Dundee a Jane Robertson in 1871 . Think he died there in 1880.

Neil how are you?
I'm from Argentina and I'm putting together the SIVES family.
I do not have the names of your brothers would be so kind to pass me your direct relatives (brothers and their wives and children).
I await your answers.
Thank you
To be able to unite the Sives family (from Argentina) with the Sives family (from Scotland)
