Aberedw - Pugh family - 18th century
« on: Monday 05 May 08 02:28 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,

Is anyone researching the Pugh family of Aberedw - 18th century?

I'm trying to resolve several problems about Charles Pugh, who (I think) was born in the 1730s at Aberedw, Radnorshire - either as the son of Jacob Pugh or the son of John Pugh.

Charles Pugh died in London in 1788.  His sister Margaret Pugh (spinster) died in Hereford in 1817 (aged 71 years, according to the newspaper report).

From the Wills of Charles Pugh & his sister Margaret Pugh, I know of the following family members:

Margaret Pugh, widow of ?

her children
John Pugh
Charles Pugh (died a bachelor in London in 1788)
Margaret Pugh (died a spinster in Hereford in 1817)
Mary Pugh - married Thomas Parker of Builth in 1775 (their children were Mary, Frances & Margaret Ann Parker)

I am especially wanting to find the following:

the baptism of Charles Pugh - probably in the 1730s.
the burial of Charles Pugh.
the burial of Margaret Pugh (who was not buried in the city of Hereford, although she died there).

From the Wills of Charles Pugh & his sister Margaret Pugh, I also know that the family had properties in Aberedw & Llanfaredd in Radnorshire and Noyad in Breconshire.

I'd be pleased to hear from anybody who knows anything about the Pugh family of Aberedw in the 18th century.
