Looking for any information on a Robert Bertram b.ca.1857 Melrose, married a Ann White Wait 29/11/1878 Ladhope Stirling (b. 1860 Galashiels).

1881 2 Stirling St. Selkirk with Ann and Annie aged 2.
Robert died 1926 Galashiels, Ann 1938 Galashiels.

Hi Beckey,

I had a check on the IGI and all children to Robert BERTRAM and Jane RATTRAY were born in Lauder, Berwickshire. However, none of the boys were named Robert! There was a John in 1858 though - do you think he may have been registered as one name, but later used another?

Son Robert looks to have been born c. 1854, probably why he doesn't necessarily show on IGI. From the 1861 Census:

According to the 1881 census he was born about 1855 Blainslie ?,Berwick, had a look on the map North of Melrose.

Father Robert died after marriage of Robert and Ann, Jane before, the reason for looking, he was witness to his grandfather in Law's James Wait death in 1880.

Thank you for the info. am going to try and get Robert & Jane's death certs, Robert might connect with another Bertram family that a RootsChatter found for me at Edinburgh.

Will now manage to get my wife's paternal great grandfather, John Scott Wait and his first wife Ann White, daughters family.
