OK, thank you Bob.  I just noticed on other profile names searching the same surnames I am, that their list of surnames is included on their profiles.  I appreciate your help.

Hi Glynis,

that's a differen kettle of fish !

Go to your profile, and click on:  RootsChat Profile Information

Then in the input box: Research names or areas:
you can add your name interests, so that they appear on all your postings

Hope you enjoy RootsChat, and good luck in finding relatives, ancestors, making friends and the other stuff we all do here !

I  have  tried  entering  a  name  to" your  surname  interests "  and  I  can  not  seem  to  get  this  to  work  I'm  logged  into  Rootschat  as  I've  always  done  but  above  when  I  try  to  enter  my  surnames  of  interest  it  has  Either the chatter-name or chatter_id is wrong !!  What  am  I  doing  wrong ?Please!

Problem solved !!

Reminder to Everybody !

This problem happens if you change your name in your profile, after entering surnames in the SIT !

SIT sees your RootsChat ID and your new RootsChat name, and "says"

there is somebody else here with this ID, somebody with the name 'old RootsChat name'

so it won't let this ursurper () use someone else's account   

No problem, just send me a PM if you change your profile name

this is getting as complicated as work - having to keep up with all software issue nos.  At least you still seem to be downwardly compatible!!!!!!

err um, how do you enter a Surname interest that is not in the U.K. or the Channel Islands?
e.g. Canada?
