very nice link and nice to see the grandson having the same interest.
by coincidence  my sister and I drove around this area on thursday
looking for Mabbot street and asked directions from some locals who
were very helpful. discovered that mabbot street is now James Joyce street.
we had been on a quick visit to the new gro in the irish life centre
and found that a great uncle was born there although the rest of his family
were born on the southside.so much of Dublin is changing so these photos
are great.have you posted the link on the dublin forums? I've seen some similar
 photos of other areas on there .

Yes, I posted it on http://www.dublin.ie/forums/ and also on http://www.boards.ie in the Dublin section.

We're going to make a bit of a fuss of the young lad. We're getting the photos properly framed and will be putting them up in the school library. Sadly his grandfather Tommy has Alzheimer's and will not be able to come but we will invite the young lad's parents and grandmother to the launch.
