Baptism for Hereford St Peter - HENRY COLE - COMPLETED
« on: Sunday 18 May 08 16:32 BST (UK) »
Would it be possible to find a christening for Henry Cole in St Peter Hereford, born 1870, parents are Samuel and Margaret, married in 1862
Four of his siblings are on the IGI (William 1863, Fanny 1865, Alice 1867 and Alfred 1874)
Don't think there were any more unless they died young
Funny how a lot of the batch christenings on the IGI are incomplete and it's always the key ones that are missing
Thanks SC

perhaps Henry was baptised at a different church? Some of my ancestors had the occasional child christened at the local non-conformist chapel! Might be worth checking those out if Henry doesn't turn up in St Peters?

You or your researcher will have to go to Hereford Archives to check the parish registers for St Peters.

Hi Netti

I guess that non-conformist records could be a possibility
However I will hope that someone can possibly come up with an answer for St Peter's

He's not my main line so I'm afraid it certainly wouldn't be top priority for me to employ a researcher
to search the Archives, I just don't like loose ends!

Thanks for your help

Hi SC

Have looked at the BVRI, no trace of Henry Cole, only his siblings, the record for St. Peters goes upto 1883.

I note the IGI submitted entry for Henry, would have been helpful if a source had been quoted  ::)

Hi Susan

Many thanks for checking for Henry's christening record
As you say the entry on the IGI has no source and somehow I hadn't found that one before anyway
But - a quick check on Free BMD shows that the only birth for a Henry Cole in Hereford between 1869 and 1871 is Sep 1870 which is the one I found and would correspond with the date on the IGI entry so I think it could well be the one I'm looking for - if so, it shows a spouse as well

Thanks for your help
