Frederick Godley was resident at Brithdir, New Tredegar, Glamorgan when he was KIA during WW1.  His birthplace was listed as Deptford, Kent.  Can someone please try to locate him on the 1901C for Kent

Thanks in advance

What is the source of this information?  What branch of the armed services was he serving with?  Does he appear http://www.cwgc.org ?

Hi Cas
No I could not find him on the CWGC.  The source of information came from the 1837 website.  Your result looks about right, Newport not being too far from Brithdir, the family probably moved up the valley following the jobs available in the mining communities.
Many thanks
Roy

Dear Roy, I hope this message finds you well.  I have been researching Frederick Godley as he is my great great grandfather, I have found out that his name is on the cenotaph in brithdir, I believe his grave is in France, is there any further information you can provide? Does my great great grandfather have any family still living in brithdir I wonder? Regards Sarah
