Thomas Peters
« on: Wednesday 21 May 08 20:40 BST (UK) »
We have been looking for a Thomas Peters born Canterbury, Kent circa 1810 and have found someone of the right name and circa the right age, but shown as born "Socket" or "Locket", Kent.

1) Does anyone know where  SOCKET or LOCKET is?

   1851 - HO107, 1526, 127, Page 39 (St Bartholomew Hospital, Middlesex)
   1881 - RG11, 1090, 146, Page 36 (Race Hill Workhouse, Brighton)

2) Where is the same gentleman in 1841, 1861, & 1871

Thanks,

Al & Al

Hi Al & Al

When you say that you are looking for a Thomas PETERS bc1810 Canterbury do you mean that you have found a baptism or something and are trying to work forwards or is it that you have an odd census entry and are trying to find him in other years ???

Bearkat - That is a possibility, but approx ten years too young. This Thomas is also the same age in the 1871 census

Casalguidi - We have found the christenings of seven Children in St Alphage, Canterbury (from 1801 o 1816) with Parents of William and Sarah Peters. We have followed through with four of the Children with census, marriages, children & deaths and are working on the remaining three (the others being Jane Peters christened 10/1803 and George Peters christened 01/1806)

It is possible that they may have died prior to 1841 - but still looking,

Thanks,

Al & Al

There are some places ie. areas/farms/hamlets rather than parishes:

Sackett's Gap - Margate
Sackett's Hill - St Peter (Broadstairs)
Luckett etc.

It would be rather a precise birthplace to give in a census though wouldn't it ???
