Shearer/Pettigrew Old Monklands

I am looking for any information on John Shearer born 1798 or his wife Margaret Pettigrew (born 1802)
Both of them came from the Old Monklands district
Their children where Agnes, Catherine, Margaret, Mary, Alexander, David, George, James, John, Robert and William.
Son James married Isabella Millar.
Can anybody help?

Hello James,

Checked the births of a John Shearer for 1798 ... no luck for that area or year... there were 11 John Shearer's born from 1795 to 1806....

there were two Margaret Pettigrew's born in Old Monkland but not in 1803

As its been some time since your original post you may already have this information but in the 1851 index for Old Monkland you have
John Shearer age 53 born in Old Monkland
Mary Shearer aged 25 born in Old Monkland
john Shearer aged 22 born in Old Monkland
William Shearer aged 19 born in Old Monkland
Alexander Shearer aged 15 born in Old Monkland
Margaret Shearer aged 12 born in Old Monkland
Agnes Shearer aged 9 born in Old Monkland
David shearer aged 5 born in Old Monkland
and living with them or next door you have Catherine Pettigrew aged 60 born in Shotts.

My David Shearer was born on the 7th NOvember 1850 in the Orkney Islands, Scotland.
He was the Son of a Stonemason and Blacksmith Peter Shearer and Wife Mary (nee Kirkness).
In 1852 the family emigrated to South Australia aboard the Omega and settled in the Clare Valley. After leaving school, David and his brothers, William and John, took up blacksmithing as a trade, purchasing their own businesses.
In the 1890s David and his brother John designed and built the first Steam driven car.

I am really interested if anyone has any information about Davids descendants.
Particularly my Grandmother Eunice Shearers, also her Mothers details and any siblings she had.
My Grandmother passed away 14 yrs ago at 102 yrs of age, in Penola South Australia.

My Mothers name was Margaret June Shearer, she passed away in 1978.
