My grandma was telling me stories of her childhood during the war and she mentioned that a gypsy boy called Peter (she can't remember his surname  :-\) was evacuated to live with her grandma in Belton, Doncaster, South Yorkshire. She seemed to think he was from the Hull area and was 12/13 and his family were scrap metal dealers. My grandma's maiden name was Marland and her grandma's name, who Peter stayed with, was Lucilla Bower-Woodward. They used to travel to the cinema in nearby Epworth and my grandma remembers Peter would not allow anyone else on the bus until she had got on.

Does anyone know Peter? He used to visit the family after the end of the war, but we don't know what became of him.
