hello

Who are you looking for, whose mum's name was allweis?

Perhaps if you reply, I can help you with information on both the family and village.

Mayday, you have not contacted me. I will wait until the 7th of August and then withdraw my membership from this forum. If you want me to help you - write back please.http://

Hi Siedlanka

I am the friend of Maydays that she is helping research my family tree. Have just noticed your message.

The person we know of that is from sudlanka/siedlanka is Raphael Allweis born there in Feb 1888 and whose father was called Abraham Jacob Allweis.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Raphael Allweis was indeed the son of Avraham Yaacov who was born in Sieldanka near Kolbuszowa in Galicia in Poland about 1856.

Avraham Yaacov sent nearly all his children to the UK (one or two were in Vienna and Warsaw first) and he himself arrived there in 1925 with his wife. Soon after celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary, she (Itta nee Vaadler) died and he emigrated to Jerusalem - married a lady as a housekeeper  (1936) and he died in 1942.

Raphael and at least six of his siblings stayed in Manchester.  Various family trees are available. The sad part of this, is that little is known of Avraham Yaacov's father Eliezer who was the son of Yisroel.

If you have any specific questions I will be happy to help.

Thanks for all that information.
I don't think I would ever have found all that out without your help.
It's a shame that little is known of Avrahams father.
You mentioned that there are some family trees relating to this family. Are any of these available online? I don't currently know many of the details of Raphael's siblings families. I think he was one of either 12 or 14 children of Avraham Yaakov and some of them later went to America.
Thanks again.

Hi,

Maybe not the same family but look at this naturalisation:-

Nationality and Naturalisation: Allweiss, Aschera Dawida Wadler (known as David Allweiss) from Austria. Resident in London. Certificate AZ2668 issued 14 March 1933.

There is also this closed document within the Home Office section of the National Archives Catalogue:-

HO 405/943
ALLWEISS. R Date of Birth: 02.12.1888
Covering dates 01/01/1949 - 31/12/1950
Availability Closed Or Retained Document, Open Description, Closed For 100 years
This document was closed under the Public Records Act or is exempt under the Freedom of Information Act 2000. It is possible to request a review of the information it contains under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and this will trigger a review. Request review.

I had a closed document from 1926, so I sent a letter to the Home Office and they reviewed it and allowed access to it.

I have noticed that there is a review tab on this one.

Thanks,

Darin, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Thanks for that Darin.

I think one of Raphael's brothers was called David and moved to London so think it probably is the same family.

And the closed document at the Home Office sounds like it could be about Raphael. He was born in Feb 1888 so if the date of birth you quote is written in the American format so it means 12th Feb 1888 it could be him. I will have to write to them also and see if can gain access.

I have passed this on to someone who I hope has a tree.

David was the brother of Raphael.

I believe there were 11 brothers and three sisters,  two of the brothers were Israel and Aaran.
Did you ever find an Allweis family tree?   If you did I would be pleased to see a copy and who knows, perhaps I could fill in a few blank spaces.
