Simpsons of Scoonie

There is a will at SP for Andrew Simpson Flesher, High Street, Leven, d. 29/12/1893 at Leven, testate - looks to be the person  on the headstone found by Norrie G

There is a death on SP for Andrew Simpson born 1797 +/- 5 years in Scoonie, Fife 1875
There is also a death in Fife 1869 for Isabella Simpson born 1797 +/- 5 - it wasn't listed as Scoonie or Leven - I haven't checked all the other districts

Just got back from work and logged on to find all this great information. All the information is usefull for inclusion in my family tree. I was in largo last week and went to Upper largo cemetery and photgraphed some of the Head Stones but the pictures seem to have disappeared from my camera, Sad. Thanks for the info on my cousin Victor, I didn't have this info.

Great pictures NorrieG - what is really useful when tracing Scottish relatives is that in many areas the women continue to be known by their maiden names (early women's lib in Scotland ). It makes it so much easier to trace the families, than in England. Many of the MIs on my family graves in Australia also include the original parish of the person buried - I have only ever seen this on the graves of folks from Scotland.

Thanks for those photos Norrie, I was staying in Leven and didn't think to go to Scoonie cemetery. The pics from Upper largo are great,mostly because I knew most of these folks.
I have been sent pics of headstones from New Zealand from kinfolk over there, as Trish says the maiden name information makes life/death much easier when researching. I can't thank you all enough for the help and time you have put to assisting me in my quest.
My Aunty Nell Simpson nee Henderson's sister and two brothers emigrated to New Zealand, one of her nephews married a Maorie girl. I am in touch with them all through research.

I came across this site by accident as I googled the Simpson name. I have just input the date of death information for Andrew Simpson when I did this!

He died 14/7/1875 at Forth Street, Leven. Was a retired postman and widower of Isabel Edgar. Death was registered by his son W(ALTER) Simpson of Buckhaven. I am very remotely linked to the Simsons.

I've just discovered this thread - fantastic stuff. I've not had time to digest all the info on here.

My wife is the daughter of John W Horne as in the photo.  Scotty - I think you are related!
