They were definitely Barker, that's why I snapped them but I'm afraid I didn't take note of who exactly, I was depending on the pics. Silly me!
         
Bell, Salter, Street - Devon, Middlesbrough.

both pics are only 72 dpi. Perhaps we'll have better luck if we can get scans at 200-300 dpi.

I was told to take white chalk with me to read old headstones
So if you are going back it might work
It will wash off with the rain so there won't be any damage done

I think you would need permission , even if the chalk does come off.

If taking a photo of a headstone , if possible , take the shot when the sunlight causes a slight shadow within the lettering.

You can also use a wax crayon and paper to do a copy , like a brass rubbing.
