Three dead brothers
« on: Sunday 15 June 08 19:44 BST (UK) »
Hi,  My brother-in-laws family lost three great uncles in WW1.  Their names are Frank (d1916), Arthur (d1918) and Albert (d1916) Glover.  We assume that they may have been in the local Leicester Regiment but are unsure of anything else. No family records or photos other then these details exist, however we do know their mother help unveil the Leicester war Memorial on Victoria Park Leicester.  Was their anyconcern about such large losses in a single family?

     Thanks for any help, Adrian

Hi Adrian,

Have you already found them on the CWGC site? Here are Frank and Arthur:

Hi,

I think that these are their certificates of remembrance from the CWGC for Frank and  Arthur:-

In Memory of
Private FRANK ALBERT GLOVER
21858, 7th Bn., Leicestershire Regiment
who died age 21
on 14 July 1916
Son of Annie Elizabeth Glover, of 25, Wolsey St., Leicester, and the late Henry Glover.
Remembered with honour
THIEPVAL MEMORIAL

In Memory of
Lance Corporal ARTHUR GLOVER
18892, 7th Bn., Leicestershire Regiment
who died age 24
on 24 March 1918
Son of Annie Elizabeth Glover, of 25, Wolsey St., Leicester, and the late Henry Glover.
Remembered with honour
HEM FARM MILITARY CEMETERY, HEM-MONACU

Albert seems a bit more tricky, as there doesn't seem to be any more A. glover's killed from the Leicestershire Regiment.

Bye for now,

Darin.

Hi Tati, Darin and Phil,

For some reason my browser won't let me log onto the cgwc site (some of my settings must be wrong) so thanks for pulling them out for me, my b-in-law will be very pleased.

Adrian,

Try the local papers. According to the UKNIWM link below, the Victoria Park Memorial was unveiled on 4th July 1925.
There is also a comment at the bottom of the page, that the memorial was unveiled by a Mrs Butler who lost four sons and two wounded.

I have had a look around, but failed to find any contemporary pictures so far.

If you notice the memorials, Henry died in January 1916 and he is the son of Henry Glover.

Frank died in July 1916, and he is the son of the late Henry Glover.

see below:-

Deaths Sep qtr 1916
Glover  Henry  63  Leicester  7a 255

Darin.
