Looking for a Charles Mace

possibly in Somerset.

According to his sons marriage notice (New Zealand, 1874)

John Charles Mace was the youngest son of Charles Mace of Bath, Somerset.  born roughly 1844-6

JCM arrived in NZ abt 1864, so could possibly be on 1861 census with Charles.

the way the notice is written could mean Charles was still alive (1874) ?

Any help much appreciated.

Hi I am trying to find the parents of John Charles Mace d.o.b 1844 Somersetshire. England. Came to NZ 1868 married Prudence Dare 1874 NZ.
On his marriage cert states his father is Charles Mace I would like to find him and John C mother. Can someone help please.

I've tried using various spellings Mase, Mayes, Mace, Maise and cannot find them in 1851 or 1861

A family of what is transcribed as MEESE but it doesn't'  look like that to me, but yes, I would go for variations

Do you know the father occupation?

Are you sure he was born in Somerset?

The only John Charles I can find is 1841 Harboro,
