Just been reading this post.
This Hotel....Shannon Hotel, my Great Great Uncle owned this, he died in 1916.
He was William Enright. His brother Richard died in the 1940's
One of the family designed a Fishing Reel, not sure what his first name was, his son took his knowledge when he moved to Deel near Dover in England, the shop is still trading.
The family house was not far from the hotel, a lovely place.

Someone mention the Lakeside Hotel in Killaloe, sorry but it's in Ballina, County Tipperary. Killaloe is on the other side of the river Shannon in County Clare. been there loads of times.

This is interesting.....I read the book and saw the play a few years later.
