Hi Beanie

Terry couldn't help me, but would appreciate if you could have a look for the following:

If you have the time can you see if you have any Hamiltons in your MIs.
I think most of the family moved away, but I know of three who died in the area.
Mary Ann Hamilton, aged 8 months, died 18 March 1861 (parents William Hamilton and Margaret Elliot)
William Hamilton, aged 9 years, died 15 September 1877 (parents as above)
and William Hamilton married to Mary Elliot, aged 45, died 25 December 1882, run over by loaded cart.

Many thanks

Linda

Hi Linda,
There are 4 Hamilton's in  the Stoneykirk MI's
I think this one is yours
Erected in memory of William HAMILTON who died 15 Sept 1878 aged 9 years. Also William HAMILTON father of the above who died 25 Dec 1882 aged 78 years.

There is also a Joseph Hamilton late Land Steward Drumbreddan died 20/2/1896 aged 74 and his wife Jane Jackson died 8/1/1892 aged 70.

Elizabeth Hamilton died 27/1/1--- aged 89 years, by W. Coffel

Grace McHaffie Milligan sister of Mrs Hugh Milligan died 15/4/1918 aged 78.

If any of these are yours, let me know and will send the full transcription
There are 7 Hamiltons in Kirkmaiden
If you know any names and dates I will check them for you as it is the next Parish to Stoneykirk
Kind Regards
Jeanne

Hello Beanie,

May I squeeze in a request?

I would be grateful if you could look in the MIs for any reference to KELLY (eg Robert d 1864 at South Two Mark, Martha Kelly d1881 at Dalvaddie), MANN and LOUGHIE.

Best regards, M.

Hi M,
I've checked through all the MI's for your names and variations, found this one in Stoneykirk;
Erected by Andrew KELLY in memory of Martha WILSON his Grandmother who died at Dalvaddie 5th Feb 1881 aged 73 years.

Kind Regards
Beannie

Hi Beannie,

Many thanks for finding that.

It is nice to know that there is a place now to visit that is connected with the Irish branch of my Wigtownshire ancestry. Martha WILSON (of Donegal) was the wife of Robert KELLY.

Kindest regards, M.

Hi M,
I'm sorry I couldn't find any more for you, I also have Kelly's in my line, my 3x Grt Grandfather was Francis Kelly born in Ireland, who died in Stoneykirk in 1847, but there is no MI for him or his wife Jane Kane who died in the 1890's. I will have to keep looking.
Kind Regards
Beenie

Hi beannie
I wonder if you could look up Patrick and Ann Milroy (Gibson) amoung the Stoneykirk MIs.  Their children were born around 1750's.  My particular interest is in their daughter Mary who may have married a Samuel Mckeand
Hoping you are still doing this
Lisa

Hi Lisa,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I've only just seen your post.
I've checked through the MI's for Stoneykirk, there are ten Milroys, but none matching with yours. I noted that Patrick and Ann had 7 children. Maybe some of the 10 are related, can you give me some more info and I'll see if I can find them.
There are also Milroys and Gibsons in kirkmaiden, do you know if the family moved or stayed in Stoneykirk?
Regards
Beannie

Thanks for that, Beanie.
I am very short of info on the Milroys.  A Mary Milroy married Samuel Mckeand on 17 Oct 1776 at Old Luce.  If she was the daughter of Patrick and Ann she would have been 17 years old.  Her siblings were John 1761 Jean 1752  James 1753 Patrick 1755  Alexander 1757 and William 1761.  These are christening dates.  I have not come across any of my family in Kirkmaiden.  There was just an outside chance that there was a link with Mary in Stoneykirk.
Regards
Lisa
