Hello Beannie,

I am researching the following ancestors and wonder if their surnames show up in your Stoneykirk MI's?

Patrick McKELVIE (1728- )
Janet STEVENSON McKELVIE (1728- )

Their children were: William (1751- ), John (1753- ), Katherine (1756- ), Patrick (1766- ), Thomas (1769- ) who moved to America, and Janet (1773- ).

Thanks for any information!

Hi Beanie

I'm new to this site so was very interested to see your MI lookup for McKelvie in Kirkmaiden.  Andrew McKelvie and Sarah Niblock are my great great grandparents and I have been searching for some 30 years to find where they would have lived in County Down for the years between 1830 and 1850, and now I have found out thanks to your entry showing Ballywillwill.

I have suspected through other research but not yet been able to confirm that John McKelvie and Margaret Barkley also listed by you are Andrew's parents as I know they married in 1800 but have not found any children born to them until 1818 but Andrew would have been born between those years.

Randy's McKelvie's may be a connection to mine so would be interested to know if there is one.  My McKelvie's were in Stoneykirk, Kirkcolm then went to County Down, Andrew died there, family moved back to Stoneykirk with some children by that time adults moving to Greenock Renfrewshire and then on to Dundee, but probably all originally came from Ireland.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks for solving a great mystery - another brick wall broken down!

(cross on top)
In memory of David MAXWELL who died at Blair march 30th 1893 aged 1 year and 8 months.

Erected by John LEES in memory of Robert LEES his father who died 10th November 1882 aged 73 years. Also Janet MAXWELL his mother who died 12th October 1891 aged 78 years.

This last one is very long and is dedicated to the Maitlands of Freugh

There are 5 Mi's in Kirkmaiden, only one mentions an Alexander

Also his Father Thomas MAXWELL who died at Drummore 28th jany. 1892 aged 88 years. Also his mother Sarah BROWN who died 16th Jany. 1870 aged 53 years.
