Very Unusual Forenames

I was looking for a birth on Ancestry and I noted someone named :-

Albert Posthumous Brown born in 1894 in Barton R

Do you think his father predeceased his birth ?

No idea where Barton R registration district is or I'd have followed it up on censuses

Yes it is.  If you search for Albert on FreeBMD, it's possible to click on Barton R and a new window opens up.  It seems that Barton Regis was in the Bristol area.

As a surname POSTHUMUS suddenly appears in the FreeBMD list in 1877.  However there are a few people in the earlier censuses with that surname.

Searching for a William Wellington in the BMD’s and found

William Wellington Waterloo Humbley

Curiosity led me to search further and there are at least 959 individuals with the forename Napoleon [first or second etc]born in England in the BMD’s

The siege of Mafeking ended in May 1900 ... there were 36 children registered with first name Mafeking in Q2 1900 - at least 13 females! (including five Mafeking May's)

Similarly, the siege of Ladysmith ended 28 Feb 1900 ... 19 births with first name Ladysmith in Q1+Q2 1900.

I'm intrigued by the name DUJON    Ladysmith Shamrock and T
- I guess that qualifies for this thread

I do some transcribing for Free BMD and come across some unusual names, the best so far I think is Tom Tootle Plucknett registered as born 1839 in Tiverton

For any Georgette Heyer fans out there, 'Ladysmith' was The Spanish Bride!
   She was a well-born Spanish girl who married Harry Smith of the Rifle Brigade after the siege of Badajoz, and 'followed the drum'. Harry Smith eventually became a governor in Africa and two towns were named after them; Harrysmith and Ladysmith, which of course became famous for other reasons
