He was 19 and she 18 His father Daniel McCurdy a Blacksmith and mother Letitia King and her father Daniel Hone and mother Louisa King.
I haven't been able to get any farther in my research.  Annie Hone Died in 1894 and Samuel married my Grandmother Margaret Gardner (Morrison), whose husband John Gardner had also died. I have never been able to get any information about them in Ireland.  I would appreciate any help.  This is my first time on Rootschat.

Welcome to Rootschat but you will not be able to start tracing the McCurdys and Hones in Ireland until you know where they came from (parish if not actual townland). Therefore, you need to look at all the available records in Scotland to see if there are any clues.
McCurdy is a very common name in Antrim, especially the North Antrim coast, but until you have more details you won't be able to find the family there.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

Are you per chance Bruce McCurdy from Canada?
I am Shane McCurdy, and I was in touch with Bruce several years ago, but wasn't able to obtain a curren e-mail address for him.
If not, I should be interested in knowing your specfic connection as I have a 'treelet' on this fmaily - although have not yet managed ot obtain a specific link in Ireland other than the references through the Census records!

Hi Shane  I am an older cousin of Bruce McCurdy.  His father was David McCurdy.
My Mother was Robina McCurdy and she had two older brothers.
My sister and I are researching.   My name is Doug.
I do not have Bruce's address but I might be able to get it.   I would be interested in hearing from you.   My sister and I have a number of birth, marriage and death certificates.

DOug - delighted ot hear from you! My direct e-mail is xxxx - email address removed to prevent spam and other abuse. Please use the secure PM system to exchange personal information. Thanks! , contact me there and I'll be abel to sent you what I have, a lot of which cam from Bruce, but some of which I was able to give to him! The Letitia King connection is proving difficult to source here in Ireland and we have not as yet managed ot get a speficit branch of the McCurdy fmaily here to link your branch to - but perhaps there might eb a clue somewhere along the line that we have missed out on!

Looking forward to hearing from you soon!

Regards

Shane McCurdy

I don't check this board as often as I should.

Wee bit of information.

Your Samuel had a brother James who also moved to Scotland with his wife, Eliza Morton. Luckily James married in Tullydrum, Dungiven, Newtownlimavady, County Londonderry in 1868 father, Daniel, a Blacksmith wasn't recorded as deceased, but there are no deaths of a Daniel McCurdy between 1868 and 1875 when Samuel's father in recorded as deceased on the marriage certificate.

There IS, however, an 1867 death of a 72 year old Daniel in Newtownlimavady.

I did a search for Letitia McCurdy's deaths, only two are listed, One for 1876 aged 56 in Coleraine, Londonderry. The other was in Dungannon, County Tyrone a 96 year old, I did a bit of digging and she was married to an Alexander McCurdy, the death was reported by her son, Thomas George McCurdy. So I think you've found out the location.

James and Eliza/Elizabeth had two children in Newtownlimavady, Robert in 1870 and Mary in 1871. They, too, moved to Falkirk where James was born in 1872 before heading to Cathcart Lanarkshire where Jane was born in 1876.
