is it worth registering and buying units then?
does seem to be fully transcribed, but if you have serched for 5 definates and not got a hit, then its kinda dubious..... ???  :-\ :-\
anyone else had any luck before i shell out £6? is it pretty much the same as ancestry.co.uk?

just another thought - it describes it as a surname index.....what info will you get for your 2 units?

well firstly I've just tried to find my own birth in Nov 1947 & I'm not there ??

is their database fully set up ?

secondly even entering full surname & first name , the results shown included names outside those parameters,

let's hope, these are just initial teething troubles

If you are searching the years 1866 to 1920 then it is fully transcribed and full name searchable - unlike freebmd which is not complete and 1837 which allows you to search by a full name, but doesn't guarantee that they will be on the page.

The others years, before and after are not fully transcribed.

Just tried to register, but got an error message.  HOWEVER, I've had a look at the Site Tour and they are pretty clear about what is and is not on the site (despite the typos!).  They say the years 1866-1920 and 1984-2002 are fully transcribed and 1921-1983 are partially transcribed - perhaps they mean partially INDEXED, which is why some of you can't find yourselves?

In principal, I object to the pay-per-view sites, but in this instance the dates that are fully transcribed contain some of my brick walls, so I will give it a go when I can get registered and see how it fares compared to 1837online.

well as my grandparents were born in1881 and 1885 they should be on but they are not .
also as my son was married in 1999 they should be on and they are not  my mother was born in 1919 and she is not on
so dont know how they say it is fully trancribed as  i have found  this not to be the case
hope you have more luck than me .also buying units seems a task in its self some times it lets you and other tomes says not available.

The free search for 1921-1983 doesn't even produce results for the surname and forename you type in.

Then look at their site tour where they give an example of searching for John Murray. The result... no John Murray. Look at line 3 on this James Murray to the left, George Musgarve to the right. What do you get if you click the . icon?

Not very promising so far
