Linda - hello

No doubt you will have seen on the IGI a marriage in Titchfield for John Peacock Purslove and Jane Biggs in Titchfield in 1798?

That marriage also appears on the Bishops Transcripts for Titchfield - no month given.

Might he have been John Peacock Purslove ?

Linda - another Rootschatter found a death reg. for a John Lambert Purslove in Newington Surrey in 1844.  No age given, so don't know whether it's snr. or jnr.

Can't find John Lambert Purslove, but confirm the marriage of

John Peacock Purslove to Jane Riggs 12 Jan 1798 in Titchfield.

A John Purslove married widow Mary Duckett 10 Jun 1775 in Portsmouth (St Thomas)

Found these baptisms:

Mary Purslove  bpt 14 Jun 1799  Gosport, parents John & Jane
John Lambert Purslove privately bpt 18 Mar 1801  Alverstoke, parents John & Jane

thank you all for the info.

i think the son of john lambert purslove (jlp) i am looking for was born around 1801.

if  jlp did marry twice - once in 1775 to mary and again to jane in 1798 then i guess he could have been born around 1755-1760ish! unless john and mary were the parents of jlp who married jane therefore could have been born around 1775. oh what fun!
thanks again

Linda - I thought the John Lambert you were looking for the was father of John Lambert Purslove b. 1801   :D

I don't know how familiar you are with the area, bur Gosport and Titchfield are only about 5 miles apart;  I have many of my Titchfield ancestors who were married in Alverstoke, and vice versa.
