What you would call the Russells Hall housing est, which is indeed next to the hospital. was once prt of the Earl of Dudleys land and was Known as Parkhead collery. When the land was reclaimed in the late 40s/50s and housing built the area was renamed Russells Hall. If you visit www.old-maps.co.uk it will show Park- head thats were the housing is now. There was a hall called Russells Hall nothing on a large scale and if you go onto google earth type in grange park in dudley thats roughly where the hall was.

The hospital area its self about 7 years ago went under some major redevolpment and the last thing to go was an old farm house which had stood empty for about 20 years the hast time i remembering see any one in it was when i was 16 and I am 41 now.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for that Mark,
so the house was more like a  small manor house rather than than a palatial house.

Not even a Mannor house more of a country residence, until the early 1800 the area which you are refiring to was not quite in dudley which at that point was in staffordshire it was in worcestershire so it would have been classed as being in the country side on the Earl of Dudleys land.

Are you in the UK?

Hi, I have been in touch with Dudley Archives, they very kindly sent me an image of Russells Hall, it could be from the painting you mention, but it looks more like a pencil drawing, I've been trying to attach it but it's too large!
I'm no use with technical stuff so I'll ask my Son if he can re size it for me.
Many thanks.
