I recently found a letter that may be the break through I have been looking for.  An aunt of mine found this in some of my grandmothers papers.  It was a letter from a lawyer in Holyhead, it was dated April 17, 1972.  The law firm was H. Jenkins & Hughes, and it was about an inheritence my grandmother recieved from a cousin who had died.  Of course the letter said there was a tree that could be inspeceted in the office, but because of the size they would not send it. 

It spoke of the late Miss Ellen Owen, formerly of "Cartrefle" Holborn Road, Holyhead, Anglesey.  She died with no husband, children or parents.  Her father would have been Henry Owen.  This letter also says Ellen Owen had five (one had died, so there would have been six) uncles and aunts who died leaving children who would inherit.  The letter does not list all the aunts and uncles, but does show my branch.  Ellen's father Henry had a brother named William Edward Owen/Owens.  He was my 2 great grandfather.  I dont know any other people before him in this tree.  If any one has any ideas on how to procede or if they knew this Ellen Owen please respond.

Ellen's father was named Henry.  It doesn't seem to be as common as some Welsh names, yet I can't find him in census records.  But then I don't know where to look.   

Ellen on the other hand I have the address of where she died, but I don't know what to do with that info.

I was hoping some one might have known this Ellen Owen, maybe her family or neighbors.  I assume that since her surname was still Owen when she died, she was never married.

Her uncle William would have been my 2 gr grandfather,  there would have been four other sibblings to William, plus Henry.  A total of six siblings.

William was born in Holyhead, Angelseyshire, North Wales, Great Britain in 1854 and died in Iowa, USA in 1938.  All of William's children were born in the USA.  Until now William was as far as I had, but now I can add his brother Henry, and Henry's daughter Ellen.  But still cant find the parents.

The solicitors H. Jenkins & Hughes still exists in Holyhead
and it may be worth your while making contact with them
and getting them to send a copy of the family tree.

The fact that they had a family tree  suggests that  Ellen Owen           
died intestate and the tree was constructed to identify the
next of kin.

If they have already disposed of the probate documents
you can still apply to the UK Probate Registry at York                         
to get a copy of the letters of administration.  These may list
the names of other cousins who received a share of the inheritance.

Purely by coincidence, my grandmother bought Cartrefle in the 70's and lived there for many years, her name was also Ellen Owens.

Whay exactly is "Cartrefle" ?   and I still dont have an answer to the above info.  I tried writing to the law firm... with no reply at all.  and to contact the government office, they want a money order to be cashable in english  currancy.  I live in a little town in the USA, and cant seem to find a place to sell me one.  I am back to step one.

My cousin seems to think that  Ellen Owen also called Nellie cartrefle is buried in Maeshyfryd Cemetary  Holyhead she was not married so could be buried with her parents
