Hi Geoffe,

The reason I didn't think it was Harriet Shearsmith is because the husband John Farr was born 1811 and his wife Harriet/Margaret was born 1816. Their daughter Harriet was born 1833 and as you have told me, Harriet Shearsmith was baptised 1832.

Their daughter Harriet was born 1833

How do you know that?  All I see is a child said to have been aged 8 at the beginning of June in 1841.

John and Margaret seem to have married only 11 days before the baptism of George, so Harriett was assuredly born some time before the marrage of John and Margaret.

George would have been aged 7 at the time of the 1841 census but his age appears as 6.  Likewise, James would have been aged 3 but appears as 2  It seems to me that Harriett's age cannot be received with any certainty.
Don't cry because its over. Smile because it happened.

Hi Geoffe,

1841 census Harriet Farr b.1833 living with parents and siblings
1851 census Harriet Farr B 1833  was a servant
1861 census Harriet Parker married 4 children
It would appear that from when Harriet got married, she used her married surname.
1871 census.  I was unable to find her.
1881 census Harriet Parker was a widow and head of house, her son and daughter living with her.
1891 census Harriet Parker was living with her son (who was unmarried1902)
1901 Harriet Parker was living with her daughter Jane Parker (whose husband George Garland had absconded)( I learned this from family members)
I feel I've got that part correct, but let me know what you think.
I've now got to try and thoroughly check Harriet's parents and it will probably take me ages. It's gpt me flummoxed I have to say.

It seems that John PARKER was actually John Colley PARKER, not as indexed by Ancestry in 1861.  There are several baptisms of their kids in the IGI.

Marriages Sep 1852
FARR    Harriet        Hull    9d   289
PARKER    John Colley         Hull    9d   289

1871 they have been indexed as BARKER. (3 more kids)

Deaths Mar 1874
PARKER    John Colley    41    Caistor    7a   400

Deaths Jun 1902
PARKER    Harriet    70    Grimsby    7a   386

Hi,
Can anyone tell me the date of marriage of John Farr (born1811, Caistor) and Harriet (no m/s)  (born 1816).
I would be very interested in any info on them.
Thanks
Betty

I only got Ursula Farr from Grimsby that married Robert Wharton 27/4/1848 …

Hi

Ages for anyone over 15 years on 1841 Census were rounded (down to nearest 5 )?

So the ages of 30 (b1811) and of 25 (b1816) are likely to be incorrect.
