Welcome to RootsChat, Steve  :)

Here's Owey Island as one of the townlands in Templecrone civil parish.

Was your gt grandmother Bridget born in 1873?

Hi couldn’t be sure of that, she died late 40’s early 50’s. I think she had 11 or 12 children. One of which was my gran.
My mother is called after her.
On facebook there is an owey island group that one of my aunties put me on and they are very helpful

Sorry couldn’t be more help.

Sean.

Yes... My Great Gran was born in 1873... Steve

So you have her birth record.
Bridget born 29th April 1873 on Owey island.

You presumably also have the death record for your gt gt grandmother Bridget who died in 1896.

I didn't know much past Gt Gran starting to learn my Gt Gt grandparents... Just discovering now. My Grandmother kept hand written notes about the family. I recently found them and have been reading and comparing information I've found. So far everything seems spot on.

Hi again i do not have the records going past my gran who was raised on Owey, she was born in the early 1920’s she was Frances (fanny)Gallagher.
Her mum was bridget mcgonagle who married i think a charles gallagher.
My granny was first cousins of the irish singer daniel o’donnell!
My mum  Bridget was born in Scotland but went to live on Owey to look after her granny bridget gallagher nee mcgonagle when they were young.
I remember on the owey island facebook page seeing a picture of my great granny Bridget . I have been over to see the area and meet relatives a few times its a lovely part of the world.

Regards Sean.
