Still looking for Samuel Lawley!
« on: Wednesday 30 July 08 14:55 BST (UK) »
Hi :)

I am looking for Samuel Lawley b1849 on census, either the 91 or 1901. I can't find a death for him and so census may help me in determining a decade when he did die.

His wife was in the workhouse in Birkenhead,  but he wasn't there as far as I could see.

Thanks for reading,
regards
sigrid

Presumably his wife is Elizabeth Lawley b 1851 Kidderminster Worcs who is shown as a widow on the 1901 census and married on the 1891 census

You need to provide Samuel's birthplace for a census lookup

1891 & 1901 shows birthplace Worcester - 1881 says Stafford

The 1881 has an Elizabeth Lawley b 1852 Worcester unmarried working as a servant in Warwick

Your find does seem the likelier bet but it would have been helpful if Sigrid had included the 1881 info re: children and Samuel and Elizabeth's birthplace
