He was born 1849 Martley, Worcestershire, not Liverpool.

I am stumped as to why Samuel is not on any census after 1871. I can't even find a suitable death for him that would 'fit'. Even allowing for mis-transcriptions, I would have thought there would be one more record for him, such as a death record. Has anyone any thoughts of someone who has literally disappeared? I don't know where he is or where I can look next.

Wirrall Archives have information on workhouses, there may be something there….

They don't seem to have any online catalogues, though.
