MI's in Kelso for John and Jean/Jane Paxton?
« on: Tuesday 05 August 08 11:23 BST (UK) »
An 'off chance' post.

Am trying to find if the above exist.

John Paxton was a watch/clockmaker in Kelso from at least 1825 - when he appears in Pigots Directory, in 1837 when his name appears as a watchmaker in Bridge Street ('Old Scottish Clockmakers from 1453 to 1850' by John Smith),  till the 1851 census.

He was dead by the 1861 one when his wife shows as a widow.  Have tried looking from 1855 to 1861 on SP and no John Paxton of the correct possiblity shows.  No will on SP.

His wife Jean died on 02 July 1867 in Kelso - found dead in bed at 1 Abbey Court aged 67 - 'supposed disease of the heart'.  Informant was her son in law, Thompson Simers - the family appear on the 1661 census sharing the house.
A previous post relating to the family is here:
